Geriatric – Osteoarthritis
is a condition in which joint pain caused by mild inflammation that arises because the bone ends of the friction joint compiler.
At the joint, a cartilage tissue which is called by the name of the cartilage usually cover the ends of the bone joints compiler. A layer of fluid called synovial fluid located between the bones and acts as a lubricant material that prevents the ends of the bones rub against each other and undermine each other.
In low synovial lining cartilage that covers the tip of the bone will rub against each other. Friction will make the layer thinner and will eventually cause pain.
Prevention of osteoarthritis can be done by eating nutritious foods. Some dietary supplements can also be used to prevent this disease. Some commonly used supplements that include glucosamine and chondroitin.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar molecules commonly found on the skin of crustaceans (exp : shrimp), arthropods, and cell walls of fungi. In Indonesia, the glucosamine can be obtained directly from commercial food supplements or milk which had been supplemented.
